I see that I left out one critical phrase regarding the sleep-wake?cycle. so i have amended my respons to MHC once more. Are you saying that, we do not need an explanation/theory of consciousness? There are many human and animal behaviors that are hard to explain without invoking consciousness.?Of course you can get a computer to do any of these, but not without the consciousness of the persons who build and program the computers. I think it is possible to sketch the mechanics of formation of consciousness, if one draws on Piaget's constructivist approach to understanding his sensorimotor stages and the sleep-wake cycle, and translates his schemes as neuronal circuits, and takes into account the timing of neurodevelopmental findings, as well as the language of the culture. Of course, you do not need language to explain animal consciousness. |
